The Registro Federal de Contribuyentes identifies taxpayers in Mexico. For individuals, it combines letters from names, the date of birth and three final characters.

Frequently asked questions

Will the calculated RFC match my SAT record?

It may match, but this is not guaranteed. SAT assigns the definitive key and resolves name collisions. Confirm your official RFC before using it for invoices or official procedures.

Can I calculate my RFC without a CURP?

Yes. This estimate only needs your given names, surnames and date of birth. The official CURP-based lookup is a separate SAT service.

What if I have only one surname?

Enter your surname in the appropriate field and leave the other empty. The calculator handles this case.

Do I need to enter my sex or place of birth?

No. These details are not used to form an individual’s RFC. CURP has a different structure.

Does it calculate a company’s RFC?

This calculator is for individuals. A company’s RFC has 12 characters and is formed from its legal name and incorporation date.

Are my details stored?

We do not store the names or date of birth you enter. The calculation runs in your browser without sending the form to a server.

How this calculator works

We apply the rules published by SAT to construct the key and calculate the distinguishing characters and check digit. We do not query its registry. An officially assigned key may differ from a formula’s result.
